Wines

In the past, our vineyards have supplied grapes to some of Victoria’s most celebrated wineries as well as currently supplying grapes to one of the biggest winereies in McLaren Vale, South Australia.

For each vintage of Broken River Vineyards wines, in consultation with our winemaker, individual parcels of grapes are specially selected to be carefully fashioned into wines and sold exclusively through our cellar door, phone order and soon via orders from this website.

These wines are only available in limited quantities and are made in accordance with our belief that great wines begin in the vineyard.

Our Broken River Vineyards range of wines also includes white varieties. The grapes for our range of white wines are currently sourced from other discerning growers who work with us to produce grapes that achieve the quality and standards we require. We soon intend to plant appropriate white grape varieties in our own vineyard.

Red Wines
2001 Shiraz
Vintage 2001 Shiraz is bold, flavoursome, full of spicy oak, complimented by intense cherry and plum fruit flavours. An ideal accompaniment to most red meats, game and cheese.

2001 Mourvèdre
This Mourvèdre (pronouced moo-vè-dra) is a savoury style wine packed full of dry berries. Its pleasant acidity beckons it to be enjoyed with rich soft cheeses and savoury meats.

2001 Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvèdre
This wine displays typical savoury sutble flavours from the Shiraz and Mourvèdre, lifted by the candied Grenache perfume and finished with sutble oak character. It perfectly compliments a Mediterranean/Greek dish.

White Wines
2002 Chenin Blanc
The 2002 Chenin Blanc has mellow passionfruit, apple and lifted floral characters which emerge effortlessly from the glass, creating a refreshing semi-sweet white wine. A great summer wine.

2002 Chardonnay
The 2002 Chardonnay is pale straw in colour, stone fruits and honeydew melons amply support the subtle nutty oak and a balancing fresh zesty palate weight.

Other Vintages

Fred's Red
A great wine for easy drinking. The wine is full of flavour with a slight touch of oak. Will nicely compliment red meat dishes. A great value for money every day wine.

Ruth's Red
Named after Ruth O'Keefe, this wine is lighter in style, displaying some raspberry and cherry aromas. The wine should be served chilled and would supplement summer salads, BBQs and antipasto platters.

2001 Sparking Shiraz
Bottle fermented. Rich, intense and bold.

Sparkling Rosé
A light bodied wine made from Shiraz grapes, showing crimson colour and attractive berry-like aromas and flavours. Rosé should be served chilled. A perfect summer luncheon wine
