About Broken River vineyards

With the purchase of an already established vineyard in 1984, Broken River Vineyards was born. Fred O'Keefe and his family purchased a 10 hectare vineyard at Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley, Victoria. This vineyard, still owned by Fred and his family has been planted with Shiraz, Mourvedre and Cabernet Savuignon grapes since the early 1970s.

In 1997, Broken River Vineyards expanded when another 44 hectares of land on the banks of the Broken River, with 10 of the 44 hectares planted under vine.

The O'Keefe family have supplied grapes to some of Victoria’s most respected and well known wineries. The grapes that come from Broken River Vineyards are still sort after by wineries to this day.

With the purchase of the new land near the banks of the Broken River and the planting of more grapevines, Fred and his family decided that the time was perfect for them to create their own line of wines.
